THE WIND CANNOT READ (Unrealised Film Project 1955 - 1957 (London Film Productions))

Note: After disagreeing with David Lean over the script for the film, Alexander Korda, Head of London Film Productions, died on 23rd January 1956; at the same time, Lean entered into discussions with Sam Spiegel, regarding "The Bridge on the River Kwai", and work on the film was abandoned. The rights were subsequently sold to Rank Film Productions, who successfully realised the film in 1958, using a screenplay by Richard Mason and with Ralph Thomas as director, the film starred Dirk Bogarde and Yoko Tani.
