Description: General correspondence (personal) from identified individuals, including: i) Letter to David Lean from his Father, Frank Lean, sending him birthday greetings, 16 March 1957. ii) Letter to David Lean from Leonard Cheshire, best known for his charitable works, particularly his 'Cheshire Homes', and a good friend of Lean's, mentioning a variety club function that he recently attended, nd., postmarked 22 May 1975. iii) Letter to David Lean from Jo Kirby. It encloses two photographs, one of her now deceased Pekinese dog, and one of Lean's grandmother with his son, both of which she found whilst having a clear out, nd., postmarked 28 July 1979. iv) Letter to David Lean from Sandy Lean, written from Kasauli, where she is staying with her parents, and where she lived prior to meeting him, 26 April 1982. v) Letter to David Lean from Steven Spielberg, expressing his pleasure at having met with him and offering help in the future, 13 June 1984. vi) Letter to David Lean from Fred Zinneman, suggesting that they meet for lunch at the Connaught to discuss the anti - colorization campaign, 14 August 1986.
